Belgium is TOP biotech non-US hotspot

December 21, 2015 News BioVox

Genengnews, the US news agency for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology, published a list of 12 non-US hotspots for biotechnology jobs. Belgium is one of them! Other European countries, including Germany, France, Ireland, Switzerland and the UK, account together with Belgium for the most locations outside the US.

Genengnews based their selection on the size of the clusters of research universities, profit research institutes, and businesses. Also recent announcements by companies about new facilities and locations of the job openings posted on the websites of eight pharma and biotech corporate giants – Amgen, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, GSK, Novartis, Pfizer and Roche were taken into account.

Belgium is known for UCB and the VIB, but also for its younger biotechs, of which several went public this year, such as Galapagos, Bone Therapeutics, Biocartis and Celyad.
