The magic of biotechnology explained

October 5, 2015 News BioVox

To bring biotechnology closer to the citizen, the VIB organizes for the fifth time a Biotech Day, supported by Gimv.

During the Biotech Day on October 25th, visitors learn how the biotech industry is looking for treatments for cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS and MS. You also get a glimpse into the working mechanism of our brains. Dozens of scientists come to tell their story in a highly interactive and accessible way. You can follow a guided tour in the high-tech laboratories, have a drink in the biotech café, follow an investor process (for the adults), join activities and workshops (for the little ones), or watch the street theater. If you are tired of walking around, you can watch a compilation of short films that explain more about the brain and cancer research at VIB. The path from research to application will be clearly explained: how long does it take until research results in new therapies, how much does it cost and who are the investors?

The event is also supported by FlandersBio, EOS, Radio2, Leuven Mindgate and Artsenkrant.
