Trinean wins 25.000 euro for disposables production

April 20, 2015 News BioVox

Trinean won the “Time for a Boost 2015” competition organized by Test and Measurement Solutions. CEO Kurt Hensen handed a cheque of 25 000 euro to the Ghent University spin-off.

Trinean develops, assembles and commercializes highly-specialized lab instruments and hydrophilic plastic plates for molecular spectroscopy on micro samples. The availability of DNA, RNA, or biological samples (blood, tumor tissue) is often limited. Therefore, the micro-amounts should be used optimally and remain sufficiently pure. Trinean’s plates have a special hydrophilic coating that suck the sample into tiny channels, preventing evaporation.

A strong optical inspection is necessary to guarantee the quality of the plates. Therefore Trinean will implement an automated visual inspection. This will increase the production capacity enormously and will benefit the precision and traceability. Trinean’s products are used worldwide in diagnostic centra and biobanks for sample analysis.
