Ranking innovation is not easy, but Times Higher Education has taken measures based on the quality of universities’ partnerships with industry. The Times survey ranks institutions on four innovation indicators: the ratio of papers co-authored with industry, the proportion of papers cited by patents, the quantity of research income from industry, and the proportion of research income from industry. In the category “proportion of papers cited by patents” VIB shares the first place together with Scripps Research Institute (US) and Institute of Cancer Research (UK). These results once more illustrate that VIB scientists work at the forefront of life sciences and highly contribute to the development of innovative products.
