Watson is here to cure cancer

The cooperation between Pfizer and IBM concerning Watson, an artificial intelligence system, was announced on the Forbes Healthcare Summit following a pilot project during the past year and a half.

Specifically, Watson will hunt for drugs that can be used in cancer immunotherapy. Watson is able to interpret loads of information, and therefore allows suggesting the best treatment much more quickly than humans can. Rapidly recognizing and associating anomalies is key in this process. Analyzing these large amounts of medical literature requires a massive amount of computing capacity.
